Mechanik Sehnsucht: Kunsterzeugung und Betrachtung

How is art created and what is it actually?
A discussion from the artist’s point of view.

The question as to what art is and how it is created is generally answered by those who do not create it themselves — with the help of interpretation and scholarly distance. But there is also the self-ob-servation of those who actively produce art and naturally have an inner view of the processual con-ditions that allow the work to emerge, which is then viewed and judged by others.

At the center of this book is the artist’s point of view and thus not interpretation or deductive conclusive-ness, but rather a conductive and creative meaning that arises from the work of art itself.
With his essay, Stephan Kaluza provides both un-usual and convincing answers. He is an artist and author; his works are exhibited in renowned muse-ums and are represented in international collections. He has published several novels, as well as plays and non-fi ction texts.
